Founders Workbench Advisory Board member, Katie Rae has recently been named President and CEO of the Engine Accelerator, a MIT initiative to provide money, mentorship, and workspace to entrepreneurs developing world changing ideas that might have difficulty attracting backing from investors focused on a quick payback.
Katie offered the Boston Globe a few insights into what is next for The Engine, including hiring a few additional partners, working with professors and alumni, and what types of emerging companies the incubator will partner with. Katie begins her new role March 15 and The Engine’s official workspace opens in May.
A veteran of the startup and early-stage investor world, Katie cofounded Project 11 Ventures, a venture fund that invests in and assists early stage companies in forming a bold vision and building a strong foundation. She is also a founder of the Startup Institute, and currently serves as its chairman.
